History

A legacy woven through generations

The story of Sadiq Textile Mills begins with the vision of its founder, Haji Sadiq Ali, born in 1936 in Amritsar, India. Coming from a family rooted in business, he inherited an instinct for trade and resilience. In 1947, at just 11 years old, he migrated to Multan during the Partition. Out of this turning point in history, he laid the foundation for what would become one of Pakistan’s most respected textile enterprises.

Starting with a single handloom unit, Sadiq Ali crafted shawls with care and precision, embodying the values of craftsmanship at a time when the textile industry in Pakistan was still finding its identity. His work reflected both tradition and ingenuity, blending artistry with the demands of a growing nation. Through perseverance and dedication, his small-scale operation steadily expanded, evolving into a modern textile mill.

As the company matured, it played a pivotal role in shaping Pakistan’s textile landscape. From being among the pioneers in acrylic and woolen shawls to experimenting with innovative fabrics, Sadiq Textile Mills became a symbol of quality and reliability. Today, guided by the founder’s grandchildren, the mill continues to carry forward his ethos of integrity, innovation, and excellence — values that remain the thread binding its past to its future.

Weaving

From shawls to a movement in fashion

In 1965, Sadiq Ali expanded his vision by establishing a dedicated weaving unit, bringing structure and scale to what began as a humble handloom venture. His focus was on wool and blended fabrics, but it was the creation of shawls and scarves for both men and women that truly distinguished the company. At a time when the market was dominated by imported designs, Sadiq Textile Mills introduced locally crafted shawls that combined elegance, warmth, and affordability - setting a new trend in Pakistan’s fashion landscape.

This weaving unit not only produced textiles but also pioneered a new culture of shawl craftsmanship, making the brand synonymous with quality and authenticity. The looms echoed with innovation - experimenting with different fibres, blends, and patterns — ensuring the collections stayed ahead of the curve. Through weaving, the company cemented its reputation as a trailblazer in the regional textile industry, building the foundation for growth into new domains.

Spinning

Reinventing yarn, redefining industry standards

Riding on the success of weaving, the family ventured into spinning in 1991, launching Sadiq Textile Mills (Pvt.) Ltd. as a worsted spinning unit. At a time when the textile industry was moving toward specialization, the company embraced fancy woolen and acrylic yarns - products that were not only innovative for the era but also gave local manufacturers access to modern, versatile materials.

From its earliest days, this spinning unit set itself apart with a commitment to quality yarn production, using advanced machinery and industry-leading processes. What began as a bold diversification soon grew into a powerhouse: within a few years, Sadiq Textile Mills became the largest worsted spinning unit in Pakistan, exporting its expertise and products to markets far beyond the country’s borders.

The spinning division didn’t just support the company’s internal growth - it played a vital role in strengthening Pakistan’s position in the global textile value chain. Today, it stands as a testament to the family’s ability to adapt, innovate, and lead, staying true to its heritage while embracing modern textile engineering.
